Knit Night!

I recently joined a group called the Tulsa Craft Mafia. We get together and do crafts and discuss crafts and plan craft shows, etc. Every night this week we're getting together and working on different things. Last night, the girls came over to learn to knit. Fun was had by all, including Sherman, who seemed to think the night was all about him. Typical.

Sherman was really pumped about knit night, obviously.

So excited that he needed a nap.

It was a dessert potluck. There were brownies, cookies, Italian Creme cake, magic cookie bars and oatsies. Mmm...

Old Becomes New.

I've been on the hunt lately for some funky vintage fabrics. I'd like to make the majority of my bags out of older fabrics. I think it gives them a more unique appeal. Yesterday, I lucked upon a huge amount of vintage clothes, some pillowcases and a bag of ties. Thanks to Raspberry Grunt for the kind donation!
I can't wait to turn the pillowcases into some super cute bags.

Some old ties. These are some vintage pants. They just need a new elastic waist and they'll be good as new. I can't wait to wear them!

Also, I found this mushroom print at the flea market this weekend.

While I was taking pictures, Sherman went into my closet and found this bag of yarn. He darted around the house with it in his mouth for about an hour. We had company over and he kept running into the room where they were and then back to me.

It eventually caught onto a hanger. He continued to run around anyway with the hanger dragging behind him. Could he be any cuter?

Nathan and I have been wanting to join a co-op, but weren't aware of any in town. The other day, I was flipping through the paper and stumbled upon an ad for Natural Farms. They are a local based store where you can find organic produce and all natural, hormone and anti-biotic free meat. Each week we receive an email telling us what the meat share bag will consist of, the produce is always a surprise. We RSVP and then pick up our food the following Friday. If you're a vegetarian you can get just the produce.

This week we got a pineapple, spinach, green lettuce, an avocado, 4 limes, 2 red bell peppers, 2 mangos, 2 cucumbers and green onion.

The meat consisted of ground beef, 2 chicken breasts, a NY strip, 2 pork chops, a summer sausage.

To: Sherm Love: Isabell

Isabell left this wad of paper in Sherman's food bowl.

It kinda reminds me of the time I secretly kept putting french fries in my brothers Krystal burgers. He was driving and I kept handing him burgers. He almost threw up, but he fell for the same trick over and over. Gotta love little brothers.

Buried In Fabric.

So it seems all I do these days between working is sew. I'm preparing for a craft show in October. I thought I would preview some of the things I've been making. (Do you like the super cool banner Nathan made for me?)

I got some super cool (I seem to be overusing this phrase today) vintage fabric from the fleamarket and made this bag. I will be keeping this one, cause it so already has my stuff in it. I'm thinking I need a skirt and maybe a headband. I just love it. What if I was like head to toe in this fabric? Awesome, I smell a new trend. Anyway, since I have a lot more of this fabric I will also be selling some bags like dees one.

This bag was the result of an experiment with a tutorial I found.

These are pillows made from some vintage napkins my mom got for me.

I'm also making lots of headbands and they're reversable.

Tis all for now.

Indie Emporium.

I'm participating in an indie craft show here in Tulsa. It will be Oct. 26/27. There will be vendors selling handmade goods, such as candles, cards, jewelry, pottery, and lots more. Also, a fashion show of handmade clothes and accessories and a fine art gallery. Mark the dates and come shop!
If you are a crafter, artist/photographer, fashion designer or anything in between and have something to sell or show off, applications are still available.

Nathan just finished working on a short film, called "Boy". Our friend Drew filmed it, his son stars in it, and Nathan edited it and composed the music. Also, check out our friend Jared Tyler's music, here. He is playing the dobro in the film. His music is beautiful.

Early gift idea...

If Nathan can have a bunch of fish, then I should be allowed an equal amount of kittens, no? Isn't marriage all about compromise? It would make me so happy.

On a side note: Nathan pointed out that this photo is clearly photoshopped. I didn't notice, because I was too distracted by adorableness. However, it is quite obvious now. Um..duh.

Deep Thoughts.

I wonder what she is thinking about.

Perhaps she is contemplating world domination.

The Latest.

I thought it was time for an update. It's very hot outside. We keep having conversations about fall. I can't wait to open the windows, burn caramel candles and just be outside. We've stayed inside mostly to avoid you know having to take a shower every 15 minutes and being attacked by swarms of evil mosquitoes. The humidity is so thick you can see it, like a fog, not joking. But enough about weather...

Nathan and I have both been working hard on various new projects. He's had numerous music/video/design projects as of late. I am starting a business called "The Knit Owl". I'm going to be making various goodies and selling them online and at craft shows. Currently, I'm trying to hammer out a bunch of things for an upcoming indie craft show here in Tulsa.

Other than that, we've been playing with the kitties, which would be 24 hours a day if Sherman had a say, and hanging out and watching movies.

I will have some things posted in my Etsy store as soon as I can!
