Does this mean we're getting old?

I'm not sure if it's the fact that we're almost to our mid-twenties or that we're married now, but last night Nathan looked at me and asked if I was ready for bed. I replied with "I have been wanting to get in bed for the past 30 minutes." Well, you see it was only 10:00. Understand, I used to stay up even if I was tired and even if I had nothing to do. I would mindlessly browse the Internet, because I couldn't go to bed before midnight. I felt I must stay up late, on principle if nothing else. Man, how things have changed. Last night, I slid into bed flannel and all, with a heat wrap draped across my shoulders. I reached into my night table drawer to find Vaseline for my lips and lotion for my hands. Then I pulled out a health book and began to read. During all of this Nathan was sitting beside me reading his latest National Geographic. Oh, and we were watching the History Channel...yes, on purpose. We looked at each other and smiled. To make matters worse, this morning we woke up at 8 and couldn't go back to sleep. My whole sleeping system has been ruined!!!

What are you... a Yankee?

The other day I stopped at a local bakery for a snack. Everything seemed normal.

Me: I would like to get a cupcake.
Cashier: Ok, would you like anything to drink with that?
Me: Hmm...I'll take a soda. (Pauses and looks around to see who said such a ghastly word) I mean a coke.

I walked away, cup in hand, shaking my head. How could I let that slip?

An Update cause I've been slacking

The new year is underway and I've begun to better adjust to my new life in Tulsa, better known as Green Country.

-I've officially found a job. I'm a full-time nanny for 2 families and 4 cute kids. I only work 4 days a week, but I must say it is exhausting. Last week was a complete blur. I came home the first day and announced to Nathan that we would be waiting more than the originally agreed upon 2 years for kids. I think 5 years sounds great.

-I think I've finally convinced Nathan that Isabell needs a sister. Now if I can just convince Isabell.

-I've been reading a life altering book. It's about living a healthier life. I was so excited about everything she has recommended until today. I got mad and put the book down. She said I should stop drinking Coke!! I don't want to replace my daily "soda" with green tea. I don't care if it will improve the look of my skin, reduce puffiness, decrease mood swings, help me sleep better, increase my energy and give me healthier bones. I want my Coke!

-Thursday my cell phone died. I was in line at Target when it slipped out of my pocket and met its demise on the hard floor. Springs and what not went flying as I scrambled to pick it all up while acting like it was totally on purpose. I was wanting to switch to Virgin Mobile, so now seems to be my chance. I'm using a temporary phone until my new one arrives. I will let everyone know when I get a new number.

That's my update for now.

Bread Machine's claim to make bread

My bread machine and I have been unable to make peace since the cheese bread incident. I dumped in the ingredients just as the recipe instructed. I watched the machine jump and rattle around on the kitchen counter for a few hours. I couldn't wait to pull out a fresh, hot loaf of homemade cheese bread. Unfortunately, I got a lump of cheesy flour, claiming by the scent, to be bread. I finally got up the courage to try again. After 2.5 hours of running into the kitchen and peering into the bread machine's window, it was done. It looked perfect, smelled perfect, sliced beautifully, and tasted kinda salty. So close!

Happy New Year! (A Holiday Update)

I haven't posted since last year so I thought I should. haha....ah... Well, Nathan and I had a great "holiday" week. We spent the Wednesday before Christmas with his family, which was a lot of fun. The following day we loaded up the car with gifts, luggage and Isabell. Then we set out on our journey to Birmingham. It was really nice to see my family. We laughed, opened gifts and stuffed our faces with Mamaw's chocolate pie. Ok, well the pie part was pretty much just me. I had to eat really fast so that no one else could. I know it's selfish, but it is the best pie in the world. So, I feel that it is justified. On Wednesday we drove up to Nashville to see my bestest friend Tisha. We also ate at one of our favorite places, Rusan's. Thursday we headed home to Green Country, which has apparently been on fire since we left. So, to make a week short, we had a wonderful time. I miss everyone so much. I can't wait to visit again.

P.S. Ok, so that's a picture from a few years ago. My hair doesn't look like that anymore, though the pie is still the same.
